My Approach

My approach is systemic which mean it has a relational focus. Problems, solutions, and experiences do not rest in isolation but are considered in the context of life, both past, present and how they influence the future. It seems important to explore how these experiences can impact on different relationships whether it’s an intimate relationship, family, friend or relationship with yourself. A systemic approach works with recurrent and fixed patterns that develop in relationships to enable growth and change to enable healthier patterns to emerge.

About Me

I am originally from New Zealand and have lived in the UK with my wife and two children, since 2012.
With over 25 years’ experience collaborating with people, I am qualified as a systemic psychotherapist, family therapist, supervisor, and a Registered Member of UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and member of AFT (Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice).
Alongside my small private practice, I currently work for the NHS in an adult mental health psychotherapy service. Previously I worked in two early intervention services supporting people and families experiencing a first episode of psychosis and emerging personality disorder.
I also offer supervision to trainee and experienced clinicians, organisational or team supervision and am an academic tutor at Plymouth University in the field of systemic theory and practice.
